The United Nations Human Rights Council is an intergovernmental body of the United Nations
primarily tasked with the protection of promotion of Human Rights in the world, in pursuance of
the goals of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The UNHRC addresses human rights-related
situations in all UN member states. It has been at the centre stage of human rights issues and
is especially pertinent today, where human rights violations take place in a blatant and
uninhibited manner across the world. Today, humanity is facing its biggest humanitarian crisis
and while governments are squabbling over petty matters like territory and control, it is the
millions of men, women and children who have been ravaged by the uninterrupted debilitating
effects of religious conflicts and ethnic genocides
